When local real estate agents Mindy Holloway and DeeDee Jordan were asked the question, “What’s more competitive, the real estate business or barrel racing?†they both laughed and answered, “Both!â€

It turns out their families have known each other for 20 years, and both have competed in barrel racing since the time they could walk.

For the past six years, Holloway and Jordan have been traveling the country as hauling partners on the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association (WPRA) Pro Barrel Racing Tour. Since August 2021 they also have been partners in the local Possum Kingdom real estate business.

The two share seven horses that they ride in different events. Jordan trains some of the horses in Gaines Bend, while Holloway trains some of them at her home in Mineral Wells. Training the horses takes up to 15 hours of their time each week, but both women agree that it’s their real estate business that takes top priority, so sometimes the horses just have to wait.

Holloway and Jordan competed at their biggest and most prestigious event this past October, at the World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WCRA) in Las Vegas. The two of them focus on competing in events with top-tier competition and the largest purses, and the largest purse Jordan has won is $14,000 at an event in Stephenville, while Holloway won $6,000 in Las Vegas.

The two seem to be the perfect traveling pair, too. At a recent event in Nebraska, which was an important qualifier for The American Rodeo at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, Holloway ended up with a case of vertigo, so Jordan took over the driving duties and got her partner ready for her big ride. The tables then turned recently in Waco, when a horse fell on Jordan’s foot, and this time it was Holloway’s turn to do all the work to get her business and riding partner ready. They may be competitors, but they still can count on each other.

Jordan, who has been selling real estate at PK since 2012, was a paralegal for Tarrant County and McLennan County in Texas before opening the Clark Real Estate Group at Possum Kingdom office in February 2020. Holloway’s background includes working at Clark Real Estate in marketing at the firm’s Weatherford office before joining Jordan in Possum Kingdom this past August. She sold her first property just a couple of months later.

The two said they have no plans to slow down anytime soon. In fact, Jordan’s husband, Bret, recently asked her when she planned to quit racing, to which she replied: “When I die!â€

Both women describe barrel racing as a sport for life, and said they love the competition both in the arena and in business.
