The crew at Let Us Do It Landscaping is ready to serve you
What’s in a name? For “Let Us Do It Landscaping,†its name is everything the nursery’s customers need to know.
Since 2003, when Dustin Kirkland and a few friends started the business, the company’s motto has been, “Let us do it so you don’t have to!â€
They mean it, too.
The business has grown immensely since Kirkland started it with a borrowed push mower, but the same work ethic still applies. He handles the landscaping side of the business, while Frances Ferguson is in charge of the nursery.
Both stay plenty busy.
The scope of Kirkland’s landscaping work includes sod and plant installations, lighting, irrigation and drainage systems, and outdoor entertainment venues such as volleyball courts, patios and putting greens.
One phase of the business is always in demand, he said.
“Low-maintenance xeriscaping is our specialty, and has always been the highest demand we have,†Kirkland said.
Kirkland’s landscaping projects can be seen all along the shores of Possum Kingdom Lake, including private properties and commercial businesses. A major recent installment was at Petey’s RV Resort & Marina. A few of the other commercial jobs include The Cliffs, Gaines Bend and Bonita Shores, as well as numerous quick fix projects for real estate agents.
Most of the company’s business is for individual properties, but Kirkland said he has the manpower and know-how for anything.
“We’re still equipped to take on any size project, whether it’s commercial or individual,†he said.
LUDI – the acronym for “Let Us Do It†– is fully licensed and insured, and the owners and employees are committed to providing the highest level of quality services. The repeat business and customer referrals speak for themselves, and the company and its employees are known for their professionalism, integrity, honesty and fairness.
On the nursery side of the business, Ferguson has been manager of the nursery for three years. One thing she has discovered in her job is that customers mainly are looking for self-sufficient plants that will thrive in desert-like environments.
“We do a lot of research on what will survive,†Ferguson said. “We sell tons of cactus.â€
Beside the variety of plants in stock, the nursery also carries metal yard art, hummingbird feeders, fertilizers, hanging baskets and potted plants for gifts, as well as top-of-the-line pottery.
“We have a smorgasbord of it all,†Ferguson said.
Both Ferguson and Kirkland preach the value of low-maintenance, low-water plants for landscaping. If a raised garden is to a customer’s liking, Kirkland suggests planting succulents and varieties that have a fragrant scent to “keep the critters off of them,†he said, including sage, salvia, herbs, rosemary and cactus.
“There are numerous hybrid types of these plants that most people don’t know about that are very vibrant and beautiful, which is our specialty,†Kirkland said.
